PokeDream Oekaki Fixed
Sunday, August 20, 2006 @ 08:13 PM EDT
For many months (since PD moved to this new server), the Oekaki had a serious problem in its coding. Whenever a user wanted to change their theme/layout, the Oekaki returned an error message and pretty much prevented that user from ever logging in again. Thus, no one ever went onto the Oekaki. The problem was that during this whole time, I thought it was working fine.

Thankfully, around a week ago, a dedicated member e-mailed me concerning this problem. I finally fixed it today; so now, the Oekaki is officially up and running smoothly (even though that was how it was supposed to be for the whole time). If it weren't for this person, I would still not have known about this serious issue.

I would like to invite all previous members (who unfortunately weren't able to log in after changing their theme) and new members to go to the PokeDream Oekaki. Let the doodling begin!

More DP Feature Videos
Sunday, August 13, 2006 @ 06:37 PM EDT
Here is four pages of Diamond and Pearl videos that compliment the features told about in my previous update. This is a video of the DP Starters: Naetoru, Hikozaru, and Pocchama. This is a battle of Dorapion vs. Golduck. This shows Pachirisu getting decorated for a Super Contest, Stage 1: Visual Judgement. And this page has two videos of Underground Shinou, one of the Capture the Flag game, and one of the searching for items feature. The videos don't have the regular "Play" button anymore, instead they have a new button. I don't know what it says, but I assume it's "Play" in Japanese. And just in case you haven't seen them yet, here are some of the previous videos (these have the new buttons as well):
*Short DP Video
*Team Galaxy Video
*Rival Video
*Lucario Battling Videos (two videos on one page).

Loaded with Diamond and Pearl
Friday, August 11, 2006 @ 04:04 PM EDT
Well, here's some more info on Diamond and Pearl (not too many spoilers)

Contests: Contests make a return from R/S/E. However, there are some new features to the contests in DP. Instead of PokeBlocks to increase your Pokemon's condition, in Diamond an Pearl, you will use a new item called PokeBread. There are three rounds in these contests: Visual, Dance, and Performance Judgement. In the Visual Judgement, you will use the touch screen to dress up your Pokemon and gets points for the better your Pokemon is dressed, and how high its contest condition is. In the Dance Judgement, you will have to perform a song or dance of some sort, based on how well you do in the Visual Judgement. You press butons as they appear on the touch screen; the better the rhythm, the more points you get. The Peformance Judgement is just like the second round of contests in R/S/E; you try to appeal or jam with moves and combos.

Undergroud Shinou: The underworld of Shinou is basically a WiFi area. Here you can make secret bases, look for fossils and items, and play a game. The game is sort of like Capture the Flag, with you and your friend's secret bases. The first one to get the flag from the opponent''s secret base and bring it back to their own's wins. However, you can set up traps in your secret bases which could slow your oppenent down. The searching for fossils and items is like a game of Minesweeper. You hit every area of the wall to find the items you're looking for.

WiFi: There are areas in DP where you use the DS's WiFi feature to communicate with other people. The Battle Tower in DP is Wifi with a special WiFi room. There is a Global Trade center in DP where you can put your Pokemon up for trade with people from all over the world. You can battle and trade with your friends across the globe by registering them. (Sorry if this is a bit vague, I don't really understand WiFi that well.)

The only known difference between Diamond and Pearl at this time is Mime Jr. is a Pokemon exclusive to Diamond, and Bonsly is exclusive to Pearl. We don't know much about Diaruga and Parukia (the legendaries for DP). They could be exclusive to one game, or could be in both.

Starters Revealed
Wednesday, August 9, 2006 @ 02:56 AM EDT
Well, here they are, the starters for Diamond and Pearl! They are the traditional Grass/Fire/Water types, with the traditonal Overgrow/Blaze/Torrent abilities, throwing out the previous rumor of having new Fighting/Dark/Psychic types.

The fire starter is Hikozaru, the Small Monkey Pokemon.
The water starter is Pocchama, the Penguin Pokemon.
In case you haven't seen them yet, here is a picture of Rozureido, which we now know for sure evolves from Roselia, and Elekible, the evolved form of Electabuzz.
Some more DP information by Friday.

An Update From Mewtwo
Sunday, August 6, 2006 @ 11:28 PM EDT
Greetings Pokemon Dream fans! This is your webmaster Mewtwo returning yet again from a long hiatus for a brief update on myself and the future of Pokemon Dream. Before I begin, I'd like to thank my staff members Aqualugia and Element17 for keeping everyone updated on the latest Pokemon news. Without them, there would be no updates to this site at all, and that would be all my fault.

This Fall, I will be attending University of California, Berkeley (the number one public institution in the U.S.) and working towards a major in Computer Science, which will take up the majority of my time. However, I will try to find as much time as I can when I'm not studying to work on this website and hopefully take it to the next level. My goal/dream to make PD the number one Pokemon website has not yet been reached. We are so near, but yet so far from that goal in a sense. Until that goal is reached, I will not stop working towards it -- and even when one day PD becomes the number one website, I will continue to work hard to make sure it remains that way.

In the next few days, I will be putting up a bunch of great fan art I've received in the past few months, so stay tuned for that. I'd also like to note to anyone posting derogatory, disrespectful, and inappropriate comments that they will be banned from the news commenting system if this continues. Happy browsing!
