Dark Red Layout
Saturday, November 27, 2004 @ 6:18 PM EST
That's right, Pokemon Dream's layout has changed again! Due to numerous complaints about the old layout having colors that are too bright, I have worked hours and hours to set up a new layout to replace the old Christmas colors (despite the fact that Christmas is almost here), the red-orange and green FireRed/LeafGreen layout, with this dark red one. This layout is filled with reddish Pokemon (not necessarily Fire Pokemon), and hope to end the complaints once and for all, hopefully. Also, I've added a bit of snow to counteract the fiery effects of the layout. It's also a PokeDream tradition to put some snow up during the wintertime.

I've also restored the Poll, so now everyone can have something to vote on. I hope that this new layout accomodates everyone's needs for eye protection and comfort. That's all for now...

Gold/Silver Gender
Thursday, November 25, 2004 @ 8:41 PM EST
I recently checked out the guides.ign.com website and found out a bit about the genders of Pokemon in Gold/Silver. This most likely applies to the newest FireRed/LeafGreen versions, but don't take me up on it.

While most Pokemon appear in the wild in both male and female forms, there are a couple that are either: always male, always female or never male nor female (neutral gender). This list can be helpful rather than looking up a multi-purpose Pokedex list. This list may just save you valuable time looking for e.g. a female Tyrogue, when you can't get one... The Pokemon with a "Neutral Gender" can breed with a Ditto - meaning that you can breed e.g. Starmie.

--------------
Always Male
--------------
Tyrogue
Hitmonchan
Hitmonlee
Hitmontop
Nidoran (male)
Nidorino
Nidoking
Tauros

--------------
Always Female
--------------
Chansey
Blissey
Nidoran (female)
Nidorina
Nidoqueen
Jynx
Smoochum
Kangaskhan
Miltank

--------------
Neutral Gender
--------------
Electrode
Voltorb
Magneton
Magnemite
Ditto
Staryu
Starmie

You can also breed two different Pokemon together to receive some VERY interesting and VERY useful Pokemon from the eggs:

BREED... ...TO GET
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Venonat & Pinsir Pinsir
Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee & Ditto Tyrogue
Clefairy & Snubbull Snubbull
Marill & Jigglypuff Igglybuff
Gyarados & Red Gyarados Magikarp (shiny)

Sections For New Games
Saturday, November 20, 2004 @ 4:54 PM EST
As some of you may know, tomorrow is the release date of the Nintendo DS (Dual-Screen) in North America. The first Pokemon game to be released will be Pokemon Dash in Japan in December of this year. Nintendo has announced that this game will be released in North America on March 14, 2005. Speaking of Pokemon Dash, I've made a new section for it, which can be found here. Currently, there are only screenshots and a tiny bit of information. Also, a section has been added for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. This section contains nearly nothing, because not much is known about these two RPGs.

A Few Updates
Thursday, November 11, 2004 @ 4:37 AM EST
I have added new English episode names for Pokemon Advanced Challenege. Thanks to Audrey, finally Pokemon Dream now has its first three episode guides for the new season of the Pokemon TV show. In addition to that, I've added sprites from FireRed/LeafGreen and Ruby/Sapphire to the Pokemon Picture Archive. Also, the poll, Which Pokemon did you choose as your starter in FireRed/LeafGreen?, has ended. Over 8,000 people voted over a period of two months, a majority of which voted for Charmander. Squirtle comes next, beating Bulbasaur by a few percent. I won't be setting up polls until around Christmas time, which will be coming soon!

Not Much To Say About October
Monday, November 1, 2004 @ 9:25 PM EST
October sure has passed pretty quickly. For Pokemon Dream, it was a pretty good month in terms of visitor amount. PD didn't break any more of its own records, but did maintain an average of around 4,300 unique visitors per day. I guess I can be happy.

However, as you might have noticed, the only big update I've done last month was the Attack Guide (thanks a lot to ButtonBasher once again). It was definitely a huge addition to all the information that PD already has, but that was pretty much it.

I barely posted any news last month, and barely updated the website. Why is this? This is because, like a lot of Pokemon fans, summer is over (and has been over for a while), and many of us (including me) have no time, if you know what I mean. In other words, no time + no good staff to help with posting news = not a lot of updates.

I just want to say thank you to all the people that have supported PD over the years (and no, Pokemon Dream is not closing, despite the tone of this sentence. In fact, it will never close!), and sorry to those who come here every day hoping for updates. I really hope to find more time to update the site this month. Once again, thanks for all your support. :)
